CTGI shares poverty reduction practices in Europe at the 5th World Food Forum

2025-11-05

Recently, CTGI was invited to attend the 5th World Food Forum at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome, Italy.

This year also marks the 80th anniversary of FAO. The forum attracted distinguished audience, including 10 heads of state and government officials, along with 115 ministers and vice-ministers from around the globe.

CTGI was invited to introduce its efforts in advancing sustainable development and social responsibility, represented by Mr. Ignacio Herrero, CEO of CTG Europe. He delivered a keynote speech at a side event under the theme of Deepening International Cooperation on Poverty Reduction to Advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

At the side event, Mr. Herrero shared the company’s experience in promoting social responsibility and poverty reduction. He said that CTGI has embedded sustainability into its corporate genes while implementing its social investment initiatives, providing targeted support for vulnerable groups, and collaborating with NGOs to advance the progress of the projects.

Taking “Patios Abiertos en Plan Bien (Open Playgrounds) Program” in Spain as an example, he elaborated on CTGI’s efforts in providing healthy meals and sports activities to children and their families in economically disadvantaged communities, fostering more active lifestyles and contributing to the shared goal of sustainable development.

By early 2025, the program had been rolled out in 6 Spanish cities and regions,  covering 13 schools. Since its launch in 2022, it has directly benefited more than 3,000 children aged 6 to 12 of around 700 families in the under-developed communities. This program was also recognized as one of the best poverty reduction case studies of the Global Solicitation on Best Poverty Reduction Practices in 2024, an initiative co-organized by seven institutions including FAO and the China International Poverty Reduction Center.
